Like many people my age, I rode my bike everywhere as a kid. We need to return to that. I rode to school through the woods, crossed busy streets, and rode the bumpy sidewalks. I delivered newspapers by bike and earned enough money to by a nice French 10 speed that was stolen while I was in college. I bought my first mountain bike when I got my first day job in 1985. Nobody on the east coast had seen a bike like that. I'm convinced that I was the first person to ride a mtn. bike in Harbison State Forest in Columbia, SC. I did my best to not let becoming a dad keep me from riding, and now my son and I get the chance to ride together occasionally. Now I'm retired and living on 20 acres that I'm slowly turning into my own personal mtn. bike park, although there is some excellent road biking right from my driveway. If you are in Asheville and looking for someone to ride with, here I am!
