Looking For Cycling Companion in DC Area

Cycling is my passion--I ride several times a week and if I go more than two days without riding I suffer from "cycling withdrawal." My wife was not a cyclist, and after she died eight years ago I said that if I ever found a companion she would have to enjoy riding. Well, that's been tough to do. It seems that most of the women who I've met who ride are either married, have a significant other, or are casual cyclists for whom a 5-10 mile ride is their idea of a big day on the bicycle!

I am retired so I am able to ride a lot when I'm not volunteering, doing some consulting, writing (I've had two books published and several magazine articles), or going to a Nats or Caps game (I am a passionate baseball fan and enjoy hockey as well).

My career was spent in the travel and transportation industry and I do love to travel. I've been to all 50 states, 10 countries, but am greatly disappointed that even though I was only 10 when the first manned space flight occurred, a trip to space was never something achievable for me (unless of course they finally get around to paving a bike path to the moon!).

Since life throws us so many curves, I find it critical to be able to laugh every day. I'm very loyal to my friends, and they say that I'm a good conversationalist. I'm very concerned about the environment, the future of our planet and the status of our democracy (if you are a Trump supporter we probably won't be able to discuss politics!).


Obviously I hope that if you reach out to me you are someone who enjoys cycling. But beyond cycling, I hope that we'll find more things to do together. As I said earlier, I'm looking for a companion--not necessarily a romantic relationship. So let's start with the bicycle and see where things go from there.
